In 1935, the Central Red Army’s Long March passed Luquan, and 21 Red Army soldiers were arrested by Kuomintang reactionaries for injuries. After being tortured, they died heroically in a local deep hole. Since then, locals have called this deep hole "Red Army Cave". In May 2022, after expert argumentation, Luquan County started the work of cleaning, identifying and reburying the remains of martyrs.

In a year, experts from anthropology, archaeology, forensic medicine and other disciplines joined forces with scholars of party history, and finally completed the identification of the remains of 21 Red Army martyrs.

In addition, to everyone’s satisfaction, the expert team has also completed the three-dimensional scanning and skull modeling of the martyrs’ skull fragments, and will carry out three-dimensional facial reconstruction in the future to further find relatives for the martyrs.
