Cracking down on illegal Internet transactions Yunnan Forest Police confiscated 1927 ivory products.

Cctv newsFrom January to May this year, the Forest Public Security Bureau of Yunnan Province and the Forest Public Security Bureau of the State Forestry and Grassland Bureau cracked a number of serious cases of illegal acquisition, transportation and sale of rare and endangered wildlife products in the "Spring Thunder Action 2018" special crackdown. On June 21, the bureau made a news briefing on several typical cases and related situations.

Since the case was filed for investigation in November 2017, the forest public security organs of Honghe Prefecture have cracked the "11.03" project after eight months of continuous operations, arrested 17 suspects and seized 764 wild animal products such as ivory products and rhinoceros horn products, including 332 ivory products of Asian elephants and African elephants. The main suspect in this case, Mo Mou, is a college student studying abroad. He developed domestic sales channels through his classmates, took advantage of the convenience of studying abroad and the lack of local laws to protect wild animals and their products, purchased some small-scale wild animal products overseas, smuggled them into the country from the border lanes, and used the loopholes in the management of domestic logistics to send them to all parts of the country for sale, thus making a profit. Another major suspect, Li Moumou, is a classmate of Mo Mou. After becoming an offline seller, Li posted sales information through the webcast platform, and then purchased and delivered through Mo Mou to complete the transaction.

In May this year, the mobile detachment directly under the Provincial Forest Public Security Bureau moved to Guangxi, Chongqing, Xinjiang and other places, and cracked the "4.10" project, and seized 2 gibbons, 3 macaques and 5 suspects. The suspect, Jiang, released video information about selling wild animals through public short video platforms such as Tik Tok and Volcano Video. After private talks, he spent many years in his home in a border city in Guangxi, and delivered live wild animals through logistics to complete the sale.

The Criminal Investigation Detachment of Yunnan Forest Public Security Bureau cracked the "4.12" case of illegal acquisition, transportation and sale of precious and endangered wild animals, arrested five criminal suspects, and seized a number of wild animal and plant products, such as Asian elephant hide, ivory products and rhinoceros horn products of Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. On March 9th this year, the Forest Public Security Bureau of Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture conducted a routine inspection of the express outlets in Daluo Town, Menghai County, and seized 101 suspected ivory products from the express parcels of a express outlet. After identification, 99 of them were Asian elephant ivory products. These parcels were collected by the express outlet in Little mongla, Myanmar, and were ready to be sent outside the province. Menghai Forest Public Security Bureau filed a case for investigation on March 10th, and arrested three suspects. The case is still under investigation.

As of May 31st, Yunnan forest public security organs had handled 36 cases of illegal acquisition, transportation and sale of ivory products, cracked down on 45 criminals and confiscated 1,927 pieces of ivory products, involving a total value of 2.55 million yuan. 597 criminal cases of forest and wildlife were handled, including 35 serious cases, and 3,857 cubic meters of forest wood, 2,147 mu of forest land and 1,581 wild animals were collected, and 6,789 criminals were cracked down (times), involving more than 21 million yuan.
